Talking to Patients about Obesity: Opening THAT Conversation

Angela Golden Robard Webinar Education Series

Presented by Angela Golden, DNP, FNP-C, FAANP

Initiating a conversation about a patient’s weight can be challenging. Discussing obesity can be an awkward and difficult conversation for both parties — but the evidence is clear and unavoidable: A health care provider’s recommendation to a patient to address their weight is unquestionably effective. To alleviate some of the potential discomfort in having these talks with your patients, please join us on January 21, when Angela Golden will explore multiple techniques to initiate a conversation with your patients about obesity.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify what research indicates patients want from providers related to the conversation around obesity
  • Describe weight bias and how it affects the conversation about obesity
  • Recognize current practices and resources for providing obesity care, including staff education, the office environment and equipment, and more
