Keeping Patients Emotionally Engaged and On Track During Social Separation

The world is ever-changing, and the events that have unfolded over the last few months revealed how swiftly change could occur. None of us could have predicted the global pandemic we find ourselves in, but now — more than ever — your weight loss patients need you to be emotionally engaged to help them stay on track during this time of social separation and quarantine.
Here are a few strategies that have proven successful:
Consistent Communication: With things changing day-to-day, be sure to communicate changes in your hours and operations, the easiest way to get in contact with you, how to continue programs, and what your procedures are for upcoming appointments. The best way to do this is via phone calls, email, text, social media, and blogs.
Offer Online Education: Recipes are a fun way to keep your patients on track in quarantine. Other ideas include online fitness/group classes, webinars, and support groups. (If you’re a Robard customer, be sure to ask your Territory Sales Manager about our recipe book!)
Telemedicine: Telemedicine allows you to virtually visit with your patients either via phone or video conferencing. These visits are secure and HIPPA compliant. It’s a convenient way you connect with patients from your home. There are several services to facilitate setting this up, many within a day!
Interactive Monitoring Technology: Having a way for patients to report their weight and activities can keep you in touch and informed — and keep your patients excited and engaged. Robard’s MyHealthyJourney app and digital solution is a great way to achieve this.
This time can be an opportunity to create a more engaging practice that makes your patients with obesity feel like they are wholly supported in their weight loss journey. Show your patients and potential patients what it is like to be part of your practice. To learn more about how to utilize the strategies above and techniques to keep your patients emotionally engaged with their weight loss goals during lockdown, we invite you to view our three-part webinar series, “Rescuing Your Practice, Serving Your Patients with Obesity and Creating a Stronger Tomorrow.” presented by best-selling author Karol Clark, MSN, RN.
